HydraFacial vs. a classic facial: which should you book?

Both leave you with clean, fresh skin and a face, neck and shoulder massage. The difference is how they get there.

The short version

A HydraFacial is a device treatment that follows the same three steps every time. A classic facial is more hands-on, and it changes with the facial you choose. At Glow, both end the same way: with a relaxing massage of your face, neck and shoulders.

What a HydraFacial is

HydraFacial is a branded treatment done with its own wand. It works in three steps:

  1. Cleanse and exfoliate. The wand gently cleanses and exfoliates your skin.
  2. Extract. Gentle suction clears out pores, with no squeezing.
  3. Hydrate. Serums with antioxidants, peptides and hyaluronic acid are infused into the skin.

We offer three HydraFacials:

  • Signature (60 min, $178). The classic three steps, and the place to start.
  • Deluxe (70 min, $248). Everything in the Signature, plus a booster serum chosen for your skin.
  • Platinum (90 min, $288). Our most complete HydraFacial, with extra time for every step.

What a classic facial is

Our classic facials are more hands-on. Each one starts with a consultation and a cleanse, and then follows its own steps. A few to know:

  • ‘Small Bubble’ Oxygen Hydra Facial (60 min, $128). Our most-booked classic facial: a deep cleanse with the small-bubble device, gentle exfoliation, extractions if needed, then a treatment mask and hydrating serum.
  • Mini Facial (45 min, $78). A short facial that covers the essentials. Good for a first facial or a lunch break.
  • Gua Sha Lifting Facial (from $138). Built around gua sha: slow, sculpting strokes with a smooth stone tool along the face and neck.
  • Power Hyaluronic Facial (60 min, $128). All about moisture, with a sheet mask and a cooling finish.

You’ll find all 8 on our facials page.

Is the ‘Small Bubble’ facial a HydraFacial?

No, and the names do sound alike. The ‘Small Bubble’ Oxygen Hydra Facial is our classic hydrating facial, done with a small-bubble device. HydraFacial is the branded three-step treatment. If it’s the HydraFacial you’re after, book the Signature, Deluxe or Platinum.

How to choose

  • Choose a HydraFacial if you like a device-based treatment with a set routine, you want extractions without squeezing, or you’re booking a monthly facial and want the same steps each time.
  • Choose a classic facial if you want more hands-on massage, or something specific like the Gua Sha Lifting Facial or our 24K Golden Facial.
  • If it’s your first facial, the ‘Small Bubble’ Oxygen Hydra Facial is an easy first visit. Short on time? Book the Mini Facial.

Still not sure? Every facial starts with a consultation, so you can talk it through with your esthetician before anything begins.

And for your scalp

The same HydraFacial system can be used on the scalp. You’ll find HydraFacial Scalp Deep Cleaning (60 min, $198) on our head spa menu.
